Lagos Lab 2016

Lagos Traffic

Delivered in collaboration with Future Lagos and British Council, the Playable City Lagos programme began with two trips to met local creatives by Playable City Producer Hilary O’Shaughnessy, which you can read about in here in her blog for Guardian Cities.

To determine the theme of the workshop, Future Lagos conducted research around how Lagosians see their city – helping us identify an area ripe for playful enquiry.

Then In March 2016, we produced a residential lab that brought together creative practitioners from Lagos (Nigeria) and the UK to explore playful interventions around the theme of mobility. Participants were supported to collaborate and prototype ideas that were demonstrated as part of a public sharing event.

From an invitation to pause under the city’s trees, to an experience that connected strangers across the bus networks of Lagos, to reflective surfaces on pedestrian bridges that encouraged passers by to stop and take a look at themselves and their surroundings, the ideas were diverse and inspiring.
