Shadowing is an interactive installation embedded within streetlights found in some of the lesser-travelled places around a city. It creates pockets of memory in the street; capturing the shadow of a pedestrian as they pass underneath the streetlight and then projecting it back to accompany the next person who passes by. Shadowing was first commissioned by Watershed as the winner of our 2014 Playable City Award and was installed in eight locations across Bristol during September and October 2014.

We are delighted that the project has been nominated by designer Sebastian Conran and will now be exhibited, alongside the other 75 nominees in London’s Design Museum from 25 March to 23 August 2015. We are working with the museum at the moment to work out how best to install a Bristol City Council streetlight in a gallery!

There are plenty of other extraordinary projects that inspire us in the digital category and beyond and we are proud to be in such prestigious company; with the likes of UsTwo games with Monument Valley and Unfold for their physical-digital measuring tools in Of Instruments and Archetypes. There is a great round up of all of the nominations on Dezeen today so do take a look and come and see us in the Design Museum in the Spring.
