This morning, the Design Museum announced the nominated projects for the 2015 Designs of the Year and we are delighted to share that Shadowing, by Jonathan Chomko and Matthew Rosier has been nominated in the Digital category.
Shadowing is an interactive installation embedded within streetlights found in some of the lesser-travelled places around a city. It creates pockets of memory in the street; capturing the shadow of a pedestrian as they pass underneath the streetlight and then projecting it back to accompany the next person who passes by. Shadowing was first commissioned by Watershed as the winner of our 2014 Playable City Award and was installed in eight locations across Bristol during September and October 2014.
We are delighted that the project has been nominated by designer Sebastian Conran and will now be exhibited, alongside the other 75 nominees in London’s Design Museum from 25 March to 23 August 2015. We are working with the museum at the moment to work out how best to install a Bristol City Council streetlight in a gallery!
