Shortlist is live and we want your comments

I am delighted to announce the ten shortlisted projects for our first ever Playable City Award. They represent a mix of ideas, art forms, countries and technologies and present a brilliant range of playful and playable interventions into the city.

Incorporating everything from music to games to 3D printing, the shortlist encompasses balloons, umbrellas, running robots, singing buildings, body scanners and talking lampposts. There’s a wealth of novel ideas – all designed to capture the imagination of Bristol’s residents and to transform our city into a giant playable space.

We received 93 applications from 24 countries all over the world and invited applications in any format –  as you will see we have text, video, websites and more.

So, now it is your turn to get involved. We are inviting you to read through the summaries of the ten shortlisted ideas and leave your suggestions, support and questions in the comments boxes. Which projects would you be excited to play with? Which would work best in the city? What haven’t they thought of?

We are hoping for lively and enthusiastic responses which we can forward to the panel of judges will meet on 14 January to choose the winner, which will be announced on Monday 21 January 2013. They will receive £30,000 and a package of support to complete their proposed project. The winning project will be unveiled in Bristol in Summer 2013 before touring internationally.

Over to you.
